Education and Wellbeing

We are always learning, be it through reading, doing or watching.  Years ago I would avidly read every smallholding book out there ready for when I started my animal keeping journey.  Books were useful but nothing helps you learn faster than having the livestock there in front of you.  They will be your best teachers.  You will soon learn what your animals are telling you, when they are not quite right, thinking about lambing or when your pig is ready for mating.  With 35 years of professional animal experience, 25 of these with livestock I will share knowledge and skills to help the budding smallholder better understand the needs of their animals and the supporting legislation that comes with it.  Bespoke courses can also be designed for your specific needs.  Please contact us for further details on how we can support you with this.

Education underpins our connection to the natural world and we also offer visits for school groups, home education and specialist groups.  You tell us your learning aim and we will develop a program that has objectives to meet this.

Wellbeing has more importance than we give it the time and credit for.  Spending time with our animals in a relaxed informal way has clear and obvious benefits.  We have seen this time and time again when friends and family spend time on the farm interacting with the animals.  We are developing a range of programmes with individuals and organisations to help support mental health through animal interaction.  Please contact us directly to discuss a session for an individual or small group.

We are fully insured through The National Farmers Union (NFU) deliver any of these programmes.
