How do you manage Animal Health and Welfare? We are fortunate that we have the most incredible Farm Vet Team on hand (The Livestock Clinic) who support us with heath care plans, routine management and any emergency. To avoid the over use of antihelmintic medication and resistence, we use their service of feacal screening to determine whether we have parasite issues and when to treat if we do. The herd health service also looks at a holistic approach to routine vaccination and overall care including ram fertility testing and pre lambing checks. We would thoroughly recommend these services to other smallholders. Welfare is in part managed though health, in additon to housing, nutrition and allowing the expression of species specific behaviour. Our pigs generally live outside in groups and have the ability to forage, wallow in mud baths and interact with the enrichment we give them. Goats and sheep also live in family groups which can be upto four generations together. It's interesting, the more you watch animals you become more aware of their preferences, be it for companions, food types and human interaction. Providing good welfare is about combining their physical, nutritional, environmental, behavioural and psychological welbeing.

Can we visit the farm at any time?We are a working farm and as such we are generally busy on the property and surrounding grazing. Set times for meat sales and events will be posted in due course. In the interim please call the mobile number in the footer for any specific enquiries.

Do you sell any of the animals as pets or for breeding to other smallholders?Yes we do. If you have a CPH number and the relevant experience we do sell goats, sheep and pigs. Animals sold for breeding will be registered with the relevant breed societies. We ask that you also register with the online movement service (Livestock Information Service -LIS for sheep and goats and eAML2 for pigs) as this will make the associated legal bits as smooth as possible. Poultry do not need this level of administration, howver please ensure they are not any local by-laws preventing birds in the garden! Available stock may be listed on the Avaialble page. If you require anything specific please call as we may not have listed everyone available.
