Farmers' Markets
What started as a passion to produce welfare friendly, field to fork food for our own table has evolved into one of our developing business threads. It has always been a dream to break away from a conventional 9-5 job (although teaching in reality is never just that!) and have a lower stress, work life balance. The last conversation with my dad in 2020 was about this very subject and achieving life goals, including making the farm a viable business. So we set about registering 'The Hairy Pig Company Ltd' with Companies House. With the support of great friends already well established in Farmers' Markets, we were given support and guidance and were successfully accepted to trade. The local authority has inspected us with a five star rating, of which we are very proud of.

We love good food, we are also very concious about the life of the animals that help make it. We use a small private abattoir in Sussex, where we are booked in by appointment and they manage the well being to the fianl moment. They also hang and butcher the meat for us, cutting to any specific requirements we have. Future plans for us do include an onsite butchery, but we need to perfect those skills first!

Ripley, Surrey
This was our first market starting in 2022, and what a great location to begin. Held on the second Saturday of the month in the beautiful village of Ripley, just off of the A3. Join us between 0900 - 1300 as we sell our home grown lamb, hogget and mutton (seasonal dependent). We may have special offers and variation. In the summer months our lamb burgers and barbeque cuts are best sellers.
There is a friendly atmosphere and a wide range of local stalls including bread, cheeses, goats produce, pies and much more. We always stock up on local honey and vegetables here, along with tasty treats and bits for our lunch!

Guildford, Surrey
We've never been to Guildford town centre more frequently than since we started markets here in early 2023. Our annual late night M&S Christmas food shop has been replaced with a monthly visit to the cobbles in our historic hometown.

At Guildford we sell our regular lamb, hogget and mutton alongside our fabulous Mangalitza pork and sausages, in a range of flavours. We also have free range duck eggs from our flock when we have a surplus. Generally we have a limited amount of bacon and also beef reared by our friends who extensively graze their cattle towards Dorking. We can be found next to our friends at the amazing Wildcroft Dairy, an absolute bonus as we dont have to go far for tasy goats cheese and milkshakes!

You will notice that our sausages usually have the British Pig Association (BPA) Pedigree pork labels, showing that our Mangalitzas meat is certified pedigree and traced from birth to plate. On the BPA website it can be found under Pinkswood Pedigree Pork. Pinkswood is the prefix of our pedigree herd, a combination of Pinkshill and Woodstreet, where we live.
